News Sid Owen to Star in New Musical Carnaby Street at London's Hackney Empire, Prior to UK Tour Sid Owen, best known for his role as Ricky Butler on TV's "EastEnders" and his performance on BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing" in 2012, is to star in the premiere of Carnaby Street, beginning performances April 6 at Hackney Empire, prior to an official opening April 10, for a run through April 14.

The show will subsequently launch a U.K. tour from April 16, visiting High Wycombe, Rhyl, Hastings, Windsor, Tunbridge Wells, Manchester, Lowestoft, Birmingham, St Alban's and Bournemouth. Also in the cast are Verity Rushworth, Tricia Adele-Turner, Mark Pearce, Paul Hazel, Hugo Harold-Harrison, Tom Connor, Cici Howells, Jonny Bower, Mike Slader, Lauren Storer, Gregory Clarke, Dan Smith, Lilly Howard, Claude Pelletier, Craig Anderson and Matthew Quinn.

In the show, Owen will play Jumpin' Jack Flash, manager of the C-St Band. Set in London’s West End in the sixties with its iconic clubs, fashion and characters, the show tells the story of Jude, a working-class boy from Liverpool, new in London and armed with nothing but his guitar and his dreams of fame and fortune. The musical follows the passion and heartbreak of his journey in pursuit of stardom. 

Written by Carl Leighton-Pope and Robert Jones, it features 30 classic hits including numbers by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, The Animals, The Searchers and The Kinks. It will be directed by Bob Tomson with designs by Matthew Wright. Choreography is by Carole Todd with lighting by Nick Richings and sound design by Ben Harrison.  The musical supervisor is Colin Cattle.
