The actors appeared as two of the side men in the original Broadway production of Warren Leight's Side Man. Wood, who played the central character of Gene, an emotionally distant trumpet player, won a Tony for his work. He has since starred in Hollywood Arms on Broadway and in Edward Albee's Home Life at Hartford Stage. Geer played the drug-addicted Jonesy, who speaks in jive and is tragically beaten by cops in a drug bust.

Kitty is directed by Carolyn Cantor. The quirky work is about "a suicidal cat falls in love with his own clone." Miriam Shorr, Justin Hagan and CCTP artistic director Andrew Polk play the cats. The run is July 15-17.

The Cape Cod Theatre Project, the 10-year-old summer theatre festival, quickly rehearses and briefly offers polished readings of new works each July. The roster is four titles strong this year, instead of the usual three. Included are new works by solo artist Mike Daisey and playwright Joe Hortua.

Hortua has a long relationship with CCTP. In 2002, CCTP fostered Hortua's Burning, which then went to an Off-Broadway production at the Rattlestick Theatre. The company also tested out Between Us, which recently opened at Manhattan Theatre Club as Hortua's most high profile production to date.

This year, the Hortua title is World Thrown Tizzy, described as "Samuel Beckett meets David Mamet." No director has been announced. The season opens with Daisey's The Ugly American. Daisey made his name with 21 Dogs Years: Doing Time @ Amazon.com, a NYC Fringe hit which went on the a commercial run. The new piece tracks Daisey's experiences studying theatre in London.

Also part of the line-up is a new play by Julia Cho, whose The Architecture of Loss was staged at Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop last fall. Gordon Edelstein will direct.

CCTP is stationed in Falmouth in the southwest corner of Cape Cod, and performs out of The Falmouth Academy, a private school. Though the company never stages full productions and makes no bones about its plays being in a state of development, the season has become quite popular with the local populace.

The season is as follows:

July 8-10
The Falmouth Academy

Kitty Kitty Kitty by Noah Haidle
July 15-17
The Falmouth Academy

BFE by Julia Cho

CCTP was founded by artistic director Andrew Polk and Jim Bracchiatta. CCTP workshops which went on to full productions include Vogel's The Mineola Twins (at the Roundabout Theatre Company), Ben Bettenbender's Vick's Boy (at Off Broadway's Rattlestick Theatre Company) and David Schulner's The Infinite Ache (at Long Wharf Theatre).
