Miller, who made her Broadway debut in After Miss Julie, previously told Vogue, "It was a play with just two of us on stage and I was offered less than half of what he was going to be paid. If it was two men, it wouldn't probably happen. Sad, but I walked away." She did not specify the production or co-star.

Miller, who has starred in the films "Foxcatcher," "American Sniper" and "Factory Girl," among others, offered more insight into an ongoing dialogue about gender disparity in the entertainment industry, focusing on discrepancies in pay and representation onstage and on screen.

The 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical went to Fun Home, marking the first time an all-female writing team won a Tony Award for a musical's score.
