Signature Theatre Plans Simply Sondheim Revue | Playbill

News Signature Theatre Plans Simply Sondheim Revue To celebrate its 25th anniversary--and just in time for composer Stephen Sondheim's 85th birthday--Signature Theatre has assembled a new revue of his work, Simply Sondheim, running April 2-19 at the theatre in Arlington, VA.

The revue was co-conceived by David Loud and artistic director Eric Schaeffer, who has staged many Sondheim shows over the course of his tenure there. Matthew Gardiner will direct and provide choreography. Orchestrations are by longtime Sondheim collaborator Jonathan Tunick.

Simply Sondheim will be performed by an ensemble of mainly local actors, including Austin Colby, Kellee Knighten Hough, Donna Migliaccio, Paul Scanlan, Bobby Smith and Stephanie Waters.

Signature describes the show thus: "Whether you’d like to race Into the Woods with Sweeney Todd and a few Assassins, enjoy A Little Night Music at the Follies on a Saturday Night, or simply relish a Sunday in the Park with George, you’ll be in good Company when six Signature favorites and a gorgeous 16-piece orchestra take the stage to honor the genius himself, Stephen Sondheim." Sondheim turns 85 on March 22.
