He previously appeared in the show at the same West End address in the summer of 2011, after premiering it at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010. According to press materials, in the show Callow brings to life Shakespeare’s unforgettable characters as well as the real man behind the legend.

Callow is currently completing a London season in a stage version of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, running at the Arts Theatre through Jan. 14. Other solo shows include  The Mystery of Charles Dickens (which he performed both in the West End and on Broadway) and Dr. Marigold & Mr. Chops. Last year, he played Sir Toby Belch in Peter Hall's National Theatre production of Twelfth Night, and Pozzo in Waiting for Godot with Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Ronald Pickup at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. His many films include "A Room with a View," "Maurice," "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Shakespeare in Love" and "Christmas Carol: The Movie." He has written biographies of Oscar Wilde, Charles Laughton and Orson Welles, and his Dickens biography will be published this year.

Being Shakespeare is written by Shakespearean scholar Jonathan Bate, whose books include "The Genius of Shakespeare" and "Soul of the Age: The Life, Mind and World of William Shakespeare," and directed by Tom Cairns. Lighting is by Bruno Poet and music and sound by Ben and Max Ringham.  It is produced by Ambassador Theatre Group, Act Productions, and Robert Bartner and Norman Tulchin.
