Classic Arts News Simon Rattle and Berlin Philharmonic Tour Japan Music director Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic kick off a Japanese tour, the orchestra's first under Rattle's leadership, in Sapporo tomorrow.
The orchestra's repertoire for the tour includes Magnus Lindberg's Aura, Dvoršk's symphonic poem The Wild Dove, and works by Mahler, Ravel, Debussy, and Haydn. Next week, the group gives three concert performances of Beethoven's opera Fidelio at Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo.

Other stops include Okayama, Kanazawa, and Tokyo's Suntory Hall.
