News Simon Ward Joins Rupert Everett, Diana Rigg and Kara Tointon in West End Pygmalion Simon Ward has joined the previously announced Rupert Everett, Diana Rigg and Kara Tointon in the company for the West End transfer of Chichester Festival Theatre's production of Pygmalion, beginning performances May 12 at the Garrick Theatre, prior to an official opening May 25, for a run through Sept. 3.

Ward will play the dustman father to Eliza Doolittle (Tointon), with Everett as Professor Henry Higgins and Rigg as his mother. Also in the cast are Peter Eyre as Colonel Pickering and Marty Cruickshank as Mrs. Eynsford Hill, with Roberta Taylor as Mrs. Pearce and Peter Sandys Clarke as Freddy Eynsford Hill. Ward is best known for playing Churchill in Richard Attenborough's "Young Winston." He has recently appeared in a touring production of Alan Bennett's The Madness of King George III; his West End credits include An Ideal Husband, Don't Dress For Dinner and Cell Mates. Other screen credits include the BBC crime drama "Judge John Deed," playing the role of Judge Everard and "The Tudors" playing Bishop Gardiner.

The production is directed and designed by Philip Prowse, and is being brought to the West End by Duncan C. Weldon and Paul Elliott, Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer for Nimax Theatres, Michael Edwards and Carole Winter for MJE Productions and the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company.
