Neil Simon's comedy Laughter on the 23rd Floor, which was seen on Broadway a half dozen years back, will have a second life on television. Showtime will film the play, a comic memoir of Simon's years as a writer for Sid Caesar's "Show of Shows." Nathan Lane will repeat his performance as the Caesar-like figure. Richard Benjamin will direct, according to Variety. Also in the cast are Peri Gilpin of "Frasier," Victor Garber (Art), Saul Rubinek ("Nixon"), Dan Castellaneta (The Alchemist), Mark Linn-Baker (Chesapeake), Richard Portnow, Zach Grenier (Voices in the Dark) and Mackenzie Astin. Aside from Lane and Linn-Baker, none of the actors appeared in the Broadway production.
Other Simon plays include Biloxi Blues, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Odd Couple and The Sunshine Boys.
