News Sing-a-Long Sound of Music Returns to the Bowl in July The interactive musical evening, Sing-a-Long Sound of Music, returns to the Hollywood Bowl July 9.

"Bring the family and cheer for Maria, boo the Nazis, and cherish this cinematic masterpiece" reads press notes. The 6 PM evening, which begins with a costume parade, will be hosted by Melissa Peterman with the von Trapp Children as special guests. The pre-show will be followed by the 8 PM presentation of the "Sound of Music" film.

The Sound of Music originally opened at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in Nov. 1959. Mary Martin headed a cast that also included Theodore Bikel and Patricia Neway. Julie Andrews starred in the award-winning film, and the most recent Broadway revival featured Rebecca Luker as the beloved Maria von Trapp. The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein score boasts such tunes as "Do Re Mi," "My Favorite Things," "The Sound of Music" and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."
