Schwartz is a South Florida Carbonell Award nominee and LeGette is a Carbonell winner. The cast also includes Steve Anthony the real boyfriend, Howard Elfman and Janece Martell as Sarah's parents and Ladd Boris as brother Joel.

Sherman's amiable comedy was a sensation in Chicago (where it premiered), and made a splash regionally and Off-Broadway. It spawned a sequel, Jest a Second! (in which Sarah's brother admits he's gay and more efforts to perform for the parents are cooked up).
Beau Jest: The Musical! had a reading in New York City in summer 2003 and the writers have been revising and tweaking toward the world premiere.
