PlayBlog Sir Patrick Stewart Talks Knighthood and the Theatre Life on "The View" (Video) Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee Sir Patrick Stewart visited "The View" Oct. 6 to talk about performing David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre on Broadway.

Stewart also recalled receiving the news that he was being offered a knighthood while filming his recent London and Broadway turn in Macbeth last year. (The film aired on PBS in most areas Oct. 6.)

A longtime veteran of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stewart is probably best known for helming the Starship Enterprise on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," which also featured "View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

A Life in the Theatre, co-starring T.R. Knight, is currently in previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. To watch the interview, with Stewart, click here and jump to about 24 minutes in.
