Stage and screen star Sir Tom Courtenay will recall his career at Wimbledon Studio Theatre in a one-off performance on Nov. 6.
Sir Tom Courtenay's career was originally as a leading light of the British cinema in the 1960s, with appearances in films like “The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner,” “Billy Liar” and David Lean's “Dr. Zhivago.”
He has, more recently, proved himself as strong a performer on stage as on screen, and was in the first London cast of Yasmina Reza's Art. He also played the dresser in Ronald Harwood's play (and then film) The Dresser, a funny and penetrating view of backstage life during the war, based partly on Harwood's experience of working with the late Sir Donald Wolfit.
