Created ten years ago by Bryan Scott, Melinda Gilb, Steve Gunderson and Javier Velasco, Suds hoped to create a vehicle for female singers similar to the all-male hit revue Forever Plaid. The saga of a "lonely Laundromat lass and the guardian angels who teach her to find true love" features such sixties classics as "Where the Boys Are," "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," "Respect," "I Feel Good" and "Do You Want to Know a Secret." The current Suds company includes Rita Carey, Erin Cronican, Jessa Watson and Corey Greenan. Co-creator Bryan Scott is the revue's director with choreography by Javier Velasco; designs are by Warden Neil (costumes) and Amanda Stephens (sets).
In addition to the Fullerton appearance, Suds will also play Palm Spring's Annenberg Theater (April 17), Azusa's Citrus College (April 18) and Malibu's Pepperdine University (April 25). Additional dates are expected shortly.
The Plummer Auditorium is located at 201 E. Chapman Avenue in Fullerton. Call (714) 278-3371 for tickets. Visit www.sudsthemusical.com for more information.
