The tour will commence at Nottingham's Theatre Royal Sept. 20, then continue to Plymouth's Theatre Royal; Southampton's Mayflower Theatre; Glasgow's Theatre Royal; Edinburgh's Festival Theatre; The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays; Milton Keynes Theatre and Birmingham Hippodrome. It will then play a Christmas season at the Royal Festival Hall, running Dec. 17-Jan. 8, 2012. According to press materials, the show is a combination of theatrical clowning and stunning spectacle, and is performed by a renowned company of clowns led by Slava Polunin. The show creates a dream-like world where one extraordinary image melts into another culminating in a stunning finale leaving the audience literally knee-deep in snow. The company is made up of a number of performers; it is rarely known in advance which clowns will perform at which performance.
The show was first seen in the UK in 1994 and has since toured the country, winning an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment during its run at the Old Vic in 1998. It has since played in 120 cities in 30 countries to more than 3 million spectators in over 4,000 performances.
