Robinson, who has been inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters' Hall of Fame, will become the latest artist to play smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn. The famed singer is scheduled to stay with the Kander and Ebb musical at the Ambassador Theatre through June 11.

Chicago currently features Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, John O'Hurley as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, Lillias White as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.

Performer/writer/producer Smokey Robinson has had 36 Top 40 hits. A founding Motown executive, Smokey began his career fronting “The Miracles”; his songwriting credits include "My Girl," "Shop Around,” “Going to A Go-Go,” “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “I Second That Emotion,” “More Love" “Get Ready," “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “You Beat Me to the Punch,” “My Guy," “Don’t Mess With Bill,” “I’ll Be Doggone,” “Just to See Her” and “One Heartbeat.”

Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 215 West 49th Street.
