News   Snow Delays the Start of Signature's Big Love by Charles Mee
Signature Theatre announced Feb. 2 that the first preview of Charles Mee's Big Love has been canceled due to the inclement weather and subsequent loss of rehearsal time.

Originally scheduled to begin previews Feb. 3, the start of performances has been postponed a day.

Big Love stars Lynn Cohen ("The Hunger Games," "Sex and the City"), Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot The Musical) and Bobby Steggert (Mothers and Sons); performances will now run Feb. 4- March 15 at the Irene Diamond Stage.

The cast also features Emmanuel Brown (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Ellen Harvey (The Phantom of the Opera), Christopher Innvar (The Snow Geese), Nathaniel Stampley (The Gershwins'Porgy and Bess), Ryan-James Hatanaka (King Lear), Preston Sadleir (Top Five), Stacey Sargeant (Signature’s Our Lady of Kibeho) and Libby Winters (American Idiot The Musical).

Big Love reunites Signature's 2007-08 Playwright-in-Residence Charles Mee with his longtime collaborator Tina Landau. Billed as a modern re-making of one of the world's oldest plays, The Danaids by Aeschylus, the Signature promises "a colossal, poetic work that explores the hunger for independence, the burden of tradition, and the shape and size of love." According to press notes, "Fifty brides flee their fifty grooms and seek refuge in an Italian villa. Mayhem ensues, complete with grooms in flight suits, women throwing themselves to the ground, occasional pop songs and romantic dances - even a bride falling in love."

The design team includes Brett Banakis (scenic design), Anita Yavich (costume design), Scott Zielinski (lighting design), Kevin O’Donnell (sound design), Austin Switser (projection design) and Rick Sordelet (fight direction). Casting is by Telsey + Company, Karyn Casl, CSA. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting or by calling (212) 244 7529. The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center is located at 480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues, New York.
