Producer Ken Davenport (Godspell, Altar Boyz) presents the Manhattan reading of Somewhere in Time, which has a book by Matheson, lyrics by Amanda Yesnowitz and music by Doug Katsaros.
Schwartz (Golda's Balcony, Jane Eyre) will direct a cast including Andrew Samonsky (South Pacific) and Mara Davi (The Drowsy Chaperone) in the central roles of Richard and Elise, respectively. The tale centers on a Chicago playwright (Samonsky) who uses hypnosis to travel back in time to meet an actress (Davi) depicted in a portrait in his hotel.
The cast will also include Steve Blanchard (Beauty and the Beast) as Robinson, Liz Bachman, Carolee Goodgold, Michael Hance, Michael Pesce, James Sasser, Tina Stafford, Jessica Vosk and Jim Walton.
"I've been working on Somewhere in Time for a few years now, and I'm so excited to have finally assembled such a wonderful team of artists for this beloved property," Davenport said in a statement. "Like the story's lead character, we're about to embark on a wonderful journey. And I can't wait to see where it takes us."
A 2009 report of the property had Canadian composer Leslie Arden attached, with Stafford Arrima (Carrie, Alter Boyz) at the helm. Davenport was also credited as co-book writer at that time.
