PlayBlog Somewhere Over the High Def Rainbow Fans won't have to travel to the Smithsonian Institute to get a good look at Dorothy's ruby slippers. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz," The Film Society of Lincoln Center will screen a new high definition restoration of the beloved 1939 Victor Fleming movie musical at the New York Film Festival.


Starring Judy Garland, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley and Frank Morgan, "The Wizard of Oz" will be presented as part of the Festival's Spotlight Retrospective in Alice Tully Hall. Festival highlights also include new films from Pedro Almodóvar ("Broken Embraces") and Lars von Trier ("Antichrist"). The 47th annual NY Film Fest runs Sept. 25-Oct. 11.
