News Sondheim's Follies Set to Play Royal Festival Hall in August

Raymond Gubbay is mounting a production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies at the Royal Festival Hall in August.

One of Sondheim's best-loved musicals, it is set in the crumbling Weissman Theatre. With songs like "Broadway Baby" and "I'm Still Here," it is a tribute to the magic and staying power of the theatrical life — while one of his biggest hits, "Losing My Mind," reaches beyond the theatre world to everyday experience of love.

Raymond Gubbay is best known as the impresario who has popularized opera and other large-scale musical events, especially at the Royal Albert Hall. This production of Follies is likely to attract a wide audience, as the show was last seen in the West End over a decade ago.

The production will begin previews Aug. 3, open on Aug. 6 and run through the end of the month. Casting details will be announced closer to the show's preview period.
