Entitled Deborah Voigt's Christmas Concert, the Dec. 7 evening at Avery Fisher Hall will feature The New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Tony Award-winning conductor-composer Donald Pippin. The performance will feature two world premieres: Kander and Ebb's "I'm Gonna Be An Angel," which was written during their first year as a writing team, and "Everlasting Light," a new Chanukkah song by Shire and Harnick. One of the leading dramatic sopranos, Deborah Voigt has performed in operas by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and Giuseppe Verdi. Conductor Donald Pippin received a Tony Award for Oliver!, an Emmy for "Broadway Sings Jule Styne," a gold record award for the A Chorus Line cast recording and a Drama Desk Award for "consistently outstanding musical direction and commitment to the theatre."
