News Sons of the Prophet, Featuring Tony Winner Joanna Gleason, Begins at the Huntington April 1 The Huntington Theatre Company world premiere of Stephen Karam's Sons of the Prophet, starring Tony Award winner Joanna Gleason, Kelsey Kurz and Dan McCabe, begins performances April 1 in Boston.

Huntington artistic director Peter DuBois directs the new play about two young men dealing with the accidental death of their father after a prank goes wrong. Sons of the Father will officially open April 13 for a run through May 1 at the Calderwood Pavilion.

Sons of the Prophet will arrive Off-Broadway in the fall at the Roundabout Theatre Company; casting for the Roundabout production has yet to be announced.

Kurz (The Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino) and McCabe (Donnie Darko) portray Joe and Charles, respectively, the two brothers at the center of the drama. Gleason (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Joe Egg, Into the Woods) appears as Gloria.

The cast also features Yusef Bulos (Fiddler on the Roof, Indians) as Bill, Jonathan Louis Dent (The Good Negro) as Vin, Lizbeth Mackay (All My Sons, The Price) as Mrs. McAndrew, Dee Nelson (All My Sons) as Dr. Manor and Charles Socarides (Awake and Sing!) as Timothy.

According to the Huntington: "Charles and Joseph are having one hell of a year. When a prank-gone-wrong in a the small town of Nazareth, PA leads to the death of their father, the two brothers struggle with their health, livelihoods, and sanity as a series of unfortunate events spiral into operatic miseries. In an age where most people look to faith, finances, or even modern medicine to solve any unpleasantries in life, Sons of the Prophet takes a brutally funny look at unresolved chronic pain and the many ways we cope with the overwhelming." The production has set design by two-time Tony Award nominee Anna Louizos, costume design by Bobby Frederick Tilley II and lighting design by Japhy Weideman.

The Roundabout staged Karam's Speech & Debate Off-Broadway as the inaugural work in its Roundabout Underground series. Karam's plays also include columbinus, Girl on Girl and an upcoming chamber opera with composer Nico Muhly. Karam is currently completing the screenplay for a film adaptation of Speech & Debate.
