The smash hits of Broadway musicals from 1927-1998 are represented in Sony Music's ambitious "Soundtrack for a Century" series with "Broadway: The Great Original Cast Recordings," released in September.

The two-disc Broadway set (sold individually or as part of the 26-disc boxed set) pulls from Columbia, CBS, Sony and other archives to include 41 show tunes ranging from Helen Morgan, of the original 1927 Show Boat, singing "Bill" (a recording from 1932) to Pamela Isaacs and Lillias White singing "My Friend" from Broadway's The Life (1998).

The diverse survey of the century's show tunes (from original and/or revival casts) includes performances by such stars as Carol Channing, Mary Martin, Julie Andrews, Rex Harrison, Judy Holliday, Joel grey, Richard Burton, Ethel Merman, Pat Suzuki, Rosalind Russell, Carol Haney, Andrea McArdle, among others.

The two-disc set includes a 63-page booklet.

The complete "Sony Music 100 Years: Soundtrack for a Century" includes 547 titles in 10 musical themes: Popular (in which the century is divided in three volumes), Jazz, Folk, Gospel and Blues (in one volume), Country, Movie Music, Broadway, Rock, R&B, Sony Classical and International Music.
