Classic Arts News Soprano Angela Denoke Withdraws from Kent Nagano-Montreal Symphony Season Opener Due to illness, Angela Denoke has cancelled her appearances as soprano soloist in both tonight's dress rehearsal and tomorrow night's concert of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Orchestre symphonique de Montr_al (OSM). She will be replaced by Canadian soprano Erin Wall.
Tomorrow's performance, highly anticipated and long since sold out, marks the opening of Kent Nagano's tenure as the OSM's music director. The California native was appointed to the Montreal position, amid much excitement, in March 2004, two years after the sudden and rancorous departure of longtime music director Charles Dutoit following conflict with some of the OSM musicians.

The program for tonight and tomorrow remains as previously announced, with Charles Ives's The Unanswered Question and Galina Ustvolskaya's Symphony No. 4 ("Prayer") preceding the Beethoven Ninth.

Further details on the OSM season are available at www.osm.ca.
