Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's musical Next to Normal won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It was the first musical to win the award since Rent in 1996 and only the third musical to win since 1980.

Sondheim in London: An outdoor staging of Into the Woods played the Regent's Open Air Theatre during the summer, and the Donmar Warehouse presented a fresh production of Passion.

The FOX comedy "Glee," packed with pop songs and show music, continued to draw starry guests and dominate in the ratings. A European concert tour featuring the cast is planned.
