News Spelling Bee's Lisa Howard to Step Into the Broadway Spotlight Lisa Howard, who plays Rona Lisa Peretti in the acclaimed musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will make her solo cabaret debut March 6 in the Broadway Spotlight Series.

Howard has titled her upcoming program Inspiration, and the evening will include songs that have inspired the actress, including works by William Finn and Dolly Parton. Show time is 8 PM.

Howard will be accompanied by musical director Carmel Dean on piano, Justin Lee on bass, Jay Mack on percussion, Scott Murphy on guitar and Nathan Christiansen on violin. Back-up vocals will be provided by Betsy Werbel, Karen Shriner and Spelling Bee co-star Derrick Baskin.

Previous "Broadway Spotlight" concerts have showcased the talents of Avenue Q's Ann Harada, Barrett Foa and John Tartaglia, Dance of the Vampires' Max von Essen, Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, Rent's Anthony Rapp, Wicked's Idina Menzel and Funny Girl’s Leslie Kritzer.

Lisa Howard is currently making her Broadway debut in Spelling Bee. She was seen in the national tour of Les Misérables — where she often performed the role of Madame Thenardier — and has also appeared in productions of Crazy for You, Cinderella, Das Barbecü, And the World Goes 'Round and Falsettos.
