News Spend An Afternoon with Stephen Schwartz Feb. 3 In conjunction with its upcoming mounting of Pippin, the Los Angeles Reprise! series will offer An Afternoon with Stephen Schwartz Feb. 3, 2005.

The afternoon with the composer of Pippin, Wicked and Godspell is set to begin at 2 PM at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Schwartz will entertain with stories about and songs from his various musicals. A question-and-answer session with the composer will follow.

Reprise! will present Pippin Jan. 25-Feb. 6, 2005. Gordon Hunt directs with choreography by Dan Mojica and musical direction by Gerald Sternbach. The design team comprises Tom Ruzika (lighting designer), Brad Kaye (set designer), Alex Jaeger (costume designer) and Phil Allen (sound designer).

As previously announced, Michael Arden heads the cast as Pippin with Sam Harris (Leading Player), Jean Louisa Kelly (Catherine), Luba Mason (Fastrada), Mimi Hines (Berthe), Graham Phillips, Conrad John Schuck and Abe Sylvia.

Stephen Schwartz, a Dramatists Guild council member, composed the scores for Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, The Magic Show, Rags, The Baker's Wife and Children of Eden. He has also written for several film musicals, including "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "The Prince of Egypt" and the TV musical "Geppetto." His solo CDs of new songs are titled "Reluctant Pilgrim" and "Uncharted Territory." Schwartz is the recipient of three Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. Wicked currently plays Broadway's Gershwin Theatre.
