News Spring Awakening Cast and Director Make Apple Store Appearance May 17 The cast of Spring Awakening and its Tony-nominated director, Michael Mayer, will make an appearance at the Apple Store in Soho May 17.

The 5-6 PM appearance will feature a performance of "Word of Your Body" by co-stars Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, Jonny B. Wright and Gideon Glick. Director Mayer will also discuss how iTunes and GarageBand helped him create the new musical, which was recently nominated for 11 2007 Tony Awards.

Spring Awakening is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 expressionist play, which was scandalous in its day for addressing sex, violence and suicide. Two actors play all the adult roles, and the others in the ensemble cast play teenagers. Groff and Michele play the lead roles of two teens drawn to each other in a world where parents, ministers and teachers create an atmosphere of shame, silence and ignorance.

The Apple Store is located in Manhattan at 103 Prince Street in Soho.
