Alexandra Socha, who made her Broadway debut at age 17 in the 2007 production of Spring Awakening, will trace her lifelong relationship with the stage in Finding Home, a cabaret show being presented 9 PM September 15 at The Green Room 42 in New York City.

Producers said that Socha “lets the audience into her innermost thoughts as she wrestles with her relationship to the theatre and performing; what it meant to her growing up, when it changed, how it got lost, and why she decided to rebuild.“ She will tell her story through a mix of music, from classic showtunes to bluegrass and acoustic folk. Producers called it, “a story she is finally ready to share.” She performed the show previously at Feinstein’s/54 Below in June.

Socha grew up in New Hampshire as part of a family that took part in local theatre. While still a high school student she auditioned for Spring Awakening, and won a place in the ensemble, later replacing Lea Michele in the leading role as Wendla. After a series of Off-Broadway and regional roles including the original cast of Maury Yeston’s Death Takes a Holiday, the Encores! revival of Paint Your Wagon, and The Dream of the Burning Boy for Roundabout Theater Company, she originated the role of Medium Alison in the Off-Broadway premiere of Fun Home at the Public Theatre in New York, introducing the song “Changing My Major.“ Socha was replaced when the show moved to Broadway, but her vocals can still be heard on the Off-Broadway cast album.

This past summer she starred in the Williamstown Theatre Festival premiere of Actually, Anna Ziegler‘s drama about campus sexual assault. The production is scheduled to transfer to the Manhattan Theatre Company Off-Broadway starting October 31.

TV credits include recurring roles on Damages opposite Glenn Close, and as Skye on the Amazon original series Red Oaks.

Finding Home will be directed by Eric Michael Gillett, with music direction by Adam Ben-David.
