James (Titanic, Shrek, Sweet Smell of Success) departs the extended Off-Broadway run of Hamilton at the Public Theater in order to begin performances in one of the starring roles of another new Broadway musical, Something Rotten!, which begins previews March 23 at the St. James Theatre.

Groff, who has not been seen on Broadway since his Tony-nominated role in the hit rock musical Spring Awakening, steps into the role of King George III for the remainder of the show's Off-Broadway extension at the Public through May 3.  Groff is widely known to TV audiences for playing heartthrob Jesse St. James in the Fox-TV series "Glee" and as the current star of the HBO series "Looking."

Groff is expected to continue with the musical, along with other members of the original Off-Broadway cast, when the show transfers to Broadway this summer with performances to begin July 13 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

The Clinton family recently attended a performance of the critically acclaimed new musical. Playbill.com was there.
