The Spiegeltent—a smallish, art nouveau structure in which booths and mirrors surround a small playing stage—was brought to New York by Ross Mollison and P.S. 122 artistic director Vallejo Gantner. A beer garden sits next to it, offering an array of handcrafted beers from New York City’s Heartland Brewery, as well as a variety of food choices.
According to press materials: "The Spiegeltent pavilions were used as traveling dance halls and wine tasting marquees since the early 20th century. The intricate, historic design consists of woven balloon canopies, a circular teak dance floor, stained cut glass windows, intimate booths, an ornate bar, beveled mirror columns and a magnificent Art Nouveau chandelier at its breathtaking center. There are only a handful of these and legendary `tents of mirrors' left in the world. An awesome sight of wood, mirrors, canvas, leaded glass and velvet and brocade details, each has its own personality and style offering a unique entertainment experience for audiences."
