The comedy, about three 30-something gay friends residing in San Francisco, casts Groff as Patrick, a video-game developer. The pilot will also feature Frankie Alvarez as Patrick's best friend.

The group of friends, according to the industry paper, will "grapple with all the options in contemporary life and the complexities of the modern gay experience."

The comedy will be produced by Sarah Condon and David Marshall Grant; Michael Lannan will pen the script. The pilot, which is based on Lannan's film "Lorimer," will be directed by Andrew Haigh.

Jonathan Groff received a Tony nomination as well as a Theatre World Award for his performance in Broadway's Spring Awakening. His Off-Broadway credits include Spring Awakening, Hair, The Bacchae, Prayer for My Enemy and The Singing Forest. He was also seen in the West End in the revival of Deathtrap. Groff's screen credits include "Boss," "The Good Wife," "Taking Woodstock," "The Conspirator," "Twelve Thirty," "Glee," "One Life to Live" and "Pretty/Handsome."
