A revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber´s Evita is scheduled to open later this summer at the Teatro Silvia Pinal in Mexico City.

Rocio Banquells, star of the original Mexican production, will recreate her performance as Eva Peron. Banquells also starred the Mexican production of Anything Goes in 1986 and in 1992 she recorded the CD "Un Sueno Alguna Vez Sone" ("I Dreamed a Dream") that featured songs in Spanish from Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Camelot, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music and other shows.

The rest of the cast will be announced in the next weeks, but there´s a rumour that Julio Aleman is being considered for the role of Peron. Aleman is a well-known movie, T.V. and theatre actor. He starred as Billy in the Mexican production of Me and My Girl, shared the stage with Rocio Banquells in Anything Goes, and in the late '70s he played the Phantom in a Mexican version of the The Phantom of the Opera, with book, music and lyrics by Raul Astor.

This revival of Evita is produced by Mario Palacios and Rocio Banquells.
