Several stars and media luminaries are expected at the Pierre Hotel on Jan. 31 for the Drama League's annual benefit, which this year honors Liza Minnelli. Scheduled to appear at the sold-out benefit are Fred Ebb, Roberta Flack, Julie Halston, Sam Harris, Charles Nelson Reilly, Chita Rivera, Dr. Ruth, Liz Smith, Bill Stritch, Ben Vereen, and the Chet Walker Dancers, Playbill On-Line has learned.
Tickets for the sold-out benefit went for $400 - $875. "We sold out over the weekend -- actually by Friday," a Drama League source said.
Liza Minnelli recently completed her Palace Theatre engagement with Minnelli on Minnelli, and is now prepping for a national tour. The Minnelli tour, just like the Broadway show, will feature the singer paying tribute to her father. The late film director, Vincent Minnelli, was the creative visionary behind such films as "Meet Me in St. Louis."
