Broadway News Stephanie Torns Takes Center Stage in Broadway’s Waitress Torns, who usually understudies the role of Jenna, plays a month-long stint prior to Katharine McPhee's limited engagement.

Waitress understudy Stephanie Torns assumes the central role of Jenna from March 13 through April 8. She fills in between recent star, composer Sara Bareilles, and incoming headliner Katharine McPhee’s limited engagements in the musical at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

Torns is an original cast member of the musical, typically appearing in the ensemble and understudying both Jenna and Dawn. She made her Broadway debut in Wicked.

Bareilles took her final bow March 11; McPhee will step in from April 10 through June 17, marking her Broadway debut.

The current cast of Waitress also includes Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, Ben Thompson as Cal, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Becky, Benny Elledge as Cal, and Lee Wilkof as Joe.
