Stephanie Zimablist will star as Julia in A.R. Gurney's Far East, Aug. 2-14 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

Zimbalist is best remembered for her role as Laura Holt, opposite current James Bond Pierce Brosnan, in "Remington Steele." Zimbalist's theatre credits include Sylvia at Westport, The Threepenny Opera and Summer and Smoke at Williamstown Theatre Festival and The Cherry Orchard at the Long Wharf.

Far East finds U.S. officer "Sparky" Watts (Barnaby Carpenter), stationed on a military base in Tokyo during the Korean War, caught between his commanding officer (Geoff Pierson), his commanding officer's wife (Zimbalist) and the woman he loves. The drama received its debut at Lincoln Center's Mitzi Newhouse Theatre this past season. Other plays by Gurney include Love Letters, Sylvia and The Cocktail Hour.

Pierson stars in Warner Brothers Television's "Unhappily Ever After," after playing an abusive husband on "Grace Under Fire." Carpenter most recently appeared in La Jolla Playhouse's The Importance of Being Earnest, for which he won a Drama-Logue Award.

Tickets are $31.20-$8.50 and available by calling the box office at (203) 227-4177. The Westport Country Playhouse is located off Post Road East, Route 1. -- By Christine Ehren
