News Stephen Daldry Heads Back to London's Royal Court

Stephen Daldry, whose film career took off in spectacular fashion with "Billy Elliot," is to return to his old stamping ground at the Royal Court this autumn.

From Sept. 12 to Nov. 2, he will be directing Caryl Churchill's play A Number.

Further details about the play — which reunites Daldry and Churchill, who last worked together on Far Away — will be released by the Royal Court nearer the time.

Daldry was many people's favorite, last year, to take over the National from Trevor Nunn. In the end that role fell to the equally popular Nicholas Hytner, who also had more experience at the National than did Daldry, though the latter's hugely successful production of An Inspector Calls started life there.
