Stephen Karam, Alan Menken and Michael John LaChiusa are among the recipients of 2012 Dramatists Guild of America awards, which will be presented Nov. 5 at the Players Club in New York.

Lisa Kron will host the evening, scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Tony nominee Mary Testa (On the Town), Amanda Green (Bring It On) and Kenita Miller (The Color Purple) will be among the evening's performers.

Karam will receive the 2012 Hull-Warriner Award for his play Sons of the Prophet, which received its New York City premiere with Roundabout Theatre Company in October 2011. The award is presented to an author or team of authors "in recognition of their play dealing with controversial subjects involving the fields of political, religious, or social mores of the times." Karam is also the author of Speech & Debate.

Menken and LaChiusa will each receive the Frederick Loewe Award for Dramatic Composition for the Tony-winning score of Newsies and the Drama Desk-nominated score of Queen of the Mist, respectively. The award "recognizes achievement in a theatrical score presented in New York during the previous theatrical season."
