News Stephen Sondheim, Tituss Burgess, Kate Baldwin, Aaron Tveit, Will Sing at Dramatists Gala The evening will celebrate the work of Nell Benjamin, Carol Hall, Tom Kitt, Robert Schenkkan, Stephen Schwartz, and more.

The Dramatists Guild Fund’s annual gala, Great Writers Thank Their Lucky Stars, will take place November 7 at 6:30 PM at Gotham Hall. The night will celebrate the work of Nell Benjamin, Mindi Dickstein, Carol Hall, Tom Kitt, Nan Knighton, Robert Schenkkan, Stephen Schwartz, and Stephen Sondheim.

Billed as The Presidential Edition, the event takes place on the eve of the U.S. presidential election.

The evening’s entertainment, which has just been announced, includes Tituss Burgess performing “The Star-Spangled Banner”; Hannah Elless performing “Astonishing” from Little Women; Mandy Gonzalez performing “Satisfied” from Hamilton; Douglas Sills performing “Into the Fire” from The Scarlet Pimpernel; Kate Baldwin performing “Hard Candy Christmas” from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas; and Aaron Tveit performing “Morning Glow” from Pippin.

Also in store are two rare musical moments. Sondheim has been announced to debut “The Flag Song” from Assassins, which was cut before performances began Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in 1990.

In addition, Nell Benjamin and Tom Kitt will debut a song from their new musical Dave, performed by Christopher Sieber.

Annette Jolles will direct the gala, with a script by Jonathan Tolins and music direction by Charlie Rosen. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting.

The evening will honor A Chorus Line and Dreamgirls producer John Breglio, Georgina Chapman & Keren Craig, Marchesa co-founders and designers; and arts patron Linda G. Levy.
