Film actor Steve Guttenberg, who rose to audience popularity in the hit comedies Three Men and A Baby and the first four chapters of the Police Academy series, has been in New York meeting with Broadway casting directors.

“I’d really love to come to Broadway and do a musical,” he told Playbill On-Line. “It’s something I’ve thought about for a long time and would love to give a try.”

Guttenberg said that, among others, he met with Fran and Barry Weissler, producers of the Tony-winning Broadway revival Chicago and the long-running, celebrity-driven revival of Grease.

So what will it be, Steve, Fran and Barry? Chicago or Grease? Pete Sanders, the press representative for the Weissler shows, said, “If Steve met with the Weisslers, it was over two weeks ago because they’ve been in London and returned yesterday (July 10). But Steve has met with the casting directors on the Weissler shows and there have been discussions about his coming to Broadway. However, nothing has been set.”
