The MCC Theater production of Fat Pig, the latest drama by Neil LaBute, which opened Dec. 15 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre to largely positive notices, recently extended to Feb. 5. Previews began Nov. 23, 2004.

Piven plays a youngish big city businessman who unexpectedly finds himself attracted to an outgoing, overweight librarian. The relationship furnishes him with feelings of contentment and growing maturity, but causes him unending and increasing anxiety at work, where prying and judgemental co-workers prove merciless in their assessment of his new mate. Relative newcomer Atkinson is Helen, the object of Piven's affections. McCarthy is Carter, a rotter of an office pal.

LaBute's other plays include bash, The Shape of Things and The Mercy Seat.
