Under the direction of Huntington Theatre Company artistic director Peter DuBois (Sons of the Prophet, Modern Terrorism, Becky Shaw), Murder at the Gates is testing its legs in a private New York City workshop through March 30.

The piece was previously presented with students from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts last fall. The current workshop, which overseen by the Huntington Theatre Company, is being staged with a cast of professional actors.

Murder at the Gates features book and lyrics by Sater (Spring Awakening, Prometheus Bound) and music by British singer/songwriter James Bourne (Loserville, Out There: The Musical).

The NYU workshop was billed in the following manner: "It's Clue meets Clueless: Millennial America. A to-die-for manor in a posh gated community. A teenage girl's birthday — all her bestest friends arrive in costume to perform a murder mystery play. And then somehow the play becomes her life..."
