CHICAGO--Richard Shavzin has anounced his resignation as artistic director of Strawdog Theatre, effective at the end of the current season. Shavzin, who has worked to make this North Side theater a contender over the last 15 years, intends to remain part of the Strawdog ensemble and to occasionally direct or act in company projects. He also hopes to accept more freelance assignments, like the season opener at Red Wolf Theatre Company that opens this fall.
"It feels like it's time to go on," says Shavzin, an actor/director who knows the importance of an effective exit.
