News Struthers and Lee to Star in Steel Magnolias for Casa Mañana Emmy Award-winning actress Sally Struthers and screen veteran Ruta Lee will headline the audience favorite Steel Magnolias for Ft. Worth's Casa Mañana Theatre beginning Feb. 12.

Struthers has been cast as salon owner Truvy Jones alongside Ruta Lee as Clairee Belcher in Robert Harling's poignant comedy that follows the lives and relationships of a group of southern women who gather regularly at their local beauty parlor.

Additional casting and creative assignments will be announced shortly.

Struthers is a two-time Emmy Award winner for "All in the Family." She has also appeared on television in "Still Standing," "Gilmore Girls," "9 to 5" and "Gloria." Struther's Broadway engagements include Wally's Café, The Odd Couple, Grease and a 20th anniversary national tour of Annie. Other stage credits include Always, Patsy Cline, Nunsense, and Mame.

Ruta Lee is known for her work in the films "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "Funny Face," as well as television's "The Love Boat," "Perry Mason" and "Roseanne." A frequent Casa Mañana leading lady, Lee has appeared in The Unsinkable Molly Brown; Hello, Dolly!; Mame; Funny Girl; Annie Get Your Gun; and South Pacific for the Ft. Worth company.

Harling's Steel Magnolias premiered at the WPA Theatre in 1987 prior to transferring to the Lucille Lortel Theatre, where it ran for 1,126 performances. The 1989 movie adaptation starred Daryl Hannah, Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field and Julia Roberts. The 2005 Broadway production featured Tony winner Christine Ebersole, Delta Burke, Marsha Mason, Frances Sternhagen, Lily Rabe and Rebecca Gayheart. Harling has gone on to pen the screenplays for "The First Wives Club," "Soapdish" and "The Evening Star"; he also directed the latter.
