Off-Broadway News Suffs Continues to Cancel Performances Due to COVID-19 Cases

The Off-Broadway run at The Public continues to face difficulties due to the virus.

Company of Suffs Jenny Anderson

Shaina Taub's Suffs world premiere has faced difficulties throughout its run at The Public's Newman Theater due to COVID-19, with performances now cancelled through May 22. This round of cancellations was originally announced May 14 and had previously been expected to only affect that day's performances.

The show, which began previews March 13, dealt with COVID positive cases at the beginning of its run which officially opened April 6 without a performance due to a cancellation because of the virus. Performances are scheduled to continue through May 29 as set forth by the show's previously announced third extension.

In Suffs, Taub shines a light on the forgotten women who fought for women's suffrage in America. Suffs follows their victories as well as their failures in working against the divides and oppression they faced in the years leading up to the passing of the 19th Amendment.
