Motor City actor-playwright Jeffry Chastang will see the world premiere of his drama, Full Circle, staged in 2000 by Detroit's Plowshares Theatre Company. Plowshares nurtured the play beginning with a reading in 1998 in its annual New Voices Festival. The play concerns a Detroit family dealing with a suicide. The drama received the $2,500 Roger L. Stevens Award from the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays. Plowshares, Detroit's only professional African-American theatre company, was the nominating theatre for the award.
Plowshares will present Full Circle June 1-25 at the Anderson Center Theatre at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. Plowshares artistic director Gary Anderson will direct.
