The U.S. national tour of Sunset Boulevard doesn't launch until late June, but already it has set a record. Nearly a half million dollars' worth of tickets were sold at the Denver Center March 10, the first day single tickets went on sale to the public.The figure reportedly breaks the previous one-day sales record of $432,000 set June 26, 1994, the day tickets went on sale there for Phantom of the Opera.
The precise figure reported for Sunset's first day was $458,640.
Sunset opens June 28 at the Denver Center's Buell Theatre, the first stop in a multi-year national tour, which stars Linda Balgord as Norma Desmond.
