News Superpowers Descend Upon Ohio as Off-Broadway Play Begins April 21 Off-Broadway's adobe theatre company will present a new work by its artistic director Jeremy Dobrish when Superpowers begins performances April 21 at the Ohio Theatre.

The piece will be directed by adobe's associate artistic director, Jessica Davis-Irons. The cast features Arthur Aulisi, Jeremy Brisiel, Ryan Bronz, Nina Hellman, Dana Croll Smith, Stan Lachow, Christy Meyer and Margie Stokley. Superpowers focuses on three different people: "Abe, an elderly widower who dreams of being young again; Cathy, a late-30s divorcee who dreams of being as beautiful as a movie star; and Jonathan, a lonely young recluse who dreams of invisibility." A typically whimsical adobe touch comes in the shape of a magic mongrel dog named Kalef who grants the trio their wishes with unexpected results.

The company's most recent production was Prague-nosis by Jeff Goode, which premiered at Show World in Midtown Manhattan, Aug. 8-28, 2002. Since then, Dobrish has kept busy. His play Eight Days (Backwards) enjoyed a run at the Vineyard Theatre, and he directed Off-Broadway productions of Priscilla Lopez's one-woman comedy, Class Mothers '68, and the musical The Joy of Sex (now at the Variety Arts).

Superpowers will play April 21-May 29 at the Ohio Theatre, 66 Wooster Street. For tickets visit www.TheaterMania.com.
