Ahead of that press event, Jones has already revealed to the BBC, "We're getting together and putting on a show – it's real. I'm quite excited about it. I hope it makes us a lot of money. I hope to be able to pay off my mortgage." And on Twitter, Eric Idle tweeted Nov. 18, "Only three days to go till the Python Press Conference. Make sure Python fans are alerted to the big forthcoming news event."

The comedy group, whica also included the late Graham Chapman, were best known for "Monty Python's Flying Circus," a TV sketch show that aired some 45 episodes over four series on BBC TV, originally transmitted between 1969 and 1974. They also made a number of feature films, including "And Now For Something Completely Different," "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (which forms the basis of the Broadway-originated Monty Python's Spamalot, which won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical) and "Monty Python's Life of Brian."

On stage they have appeared live at the Hollywood Bowl, which was filmed and subsequently released, and presented four live Secret Policeman's Ball shows between 1976 and 1981 as charity fundraisers for Amnesty International.
