News Sutton Foster Sweet Charity to Launch Mobile Lottery Tomorrow The cheap ticket initiative will coincide with the first preview at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

The New Group and TodayTix have announced a digital lottery for the Off-Broadway revival of Sweet Charity starring two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster as Charity Hope Valentine. The initiative, offering $35 tickets for performances throughout the entire length of the limited engagement, will launch November 2, to coincide with the first preview at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

TodayTix allows theatregoers to enter the lottery via the mobile app, available for download in the App Store or Google Play Store or through the TodayTix website. The entry period begins each day at 12:01 AM for a selected performance and continues until winners are notified via push notification and email two-to-four hours before the performance begins. Winners can pick up their tickets at Will Call beginning one hour prior to curtain. Lottery tickets and seat locations are subject to availability.

Neil Simon, Cy Coleman, and Dorothy Fields’ Sweet Charity is directed by Leigh Silverman and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse.

Foster stars as Charity Hope Valentine, an unlucky-in-love dance-hall hostess, along with a principal cast made up of Asmeret Ghebremichael (Nickie), Shuler Hensley (Oscar), Emily Padgett (Helene), and Joel Perez (Herman/Vittorio/Daddy Brubeck). The show will officially open November 20, and is scheduled to run through December 30 following two extension announcements.

The cast also includes Yesenia Ayala (ensemble), Darius Barnes (ensemble), James Brown III (ensemble), Lori Ann Ferreri (swing), Sasha Hutchings (Rosie/ensemble), Donald Jones, Jr. (ensemble), Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Ursula/ensemble), and Ryan Worsing (swing).

Here’s how The New Group bills its revival: “The musical tells the story of Charity Hope Valentine, a taxi dancer with a heart of gold but a will of tin foil. Though she dreams of meeting the right man and settling down, she keeps lavishing her affections on losers. Her luck starts to change when she meets a suave Italian movie star, but things really start to look rosy when she runs into a nebbishy but sweet guy in a night-school elevator. Could this finally be her Prince (more or less) Charming?“
