A spokesman confirmed Foster will take vacation time Feb. 2, Feb. 17-23 and Feb. 26-28. Understudies for the role are Catherine Brunell and Susan Haefner. Audiences have embraced Foster for her quirky star making turn in the musical based on the film of the same name. Millie is a Kansas girl who comes to Manhattan in the 1920s to snag a rich man for a husband. Along the way, she sings a Tony-nominated score by composer Jeanine Tesori and lyricist Dick Scanlan (with some Arthur Sullivan, Jay Thompson, Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn tunes added for good measure).
The show won the 2002 Best Musical Tony Award. The show's Tony winners were Foster, featured actress Harriet Harris, costume designer Martin Pakledinaz , orchestrators Douglas Besterman and Ralph Burns and choreographer Rob Ashford.
